The story begins in Africa and the queendoms under the protection of Queen Adebola and her daughter Princess Chibuike. By queendom, the villages are ruled by women and the warriors that protect the villages are women. Men do not play an active role in the communities. This is the first social topic addressed in the story. More social issues will be dealt with throughout the story. The second concern is that of slavery. Multiple villages have been raided and the inhabitants have either been killed or have simply disappeared. Queen Adebola send her daughter, now a member of the warriors, and other warriors in search of the villagers. This leads the group to America and into the battle to abolish slavery.
If the story were factual, this certainly could have had a major impact on generations. The story is fast paced and enjoyable to read. It keeps the reader engaged. There are a lot of characters which can be hard to keep track of if the reader is a fast reader. Also, there was so much happening. I feel like this story could have been much more in-depth if it were broken down into multiple books.
No One Will Save Us by Julie L. Brown would be perfect for readers that enjoy action packed stories with moral justice within the story.
