100 Must Reads
When I decided to get serious about reading and formulate a plan that wasn't all over the place, I began researching the books that serious readers thought must be read. Well, as is usual, there were many lists to choose from. In order to bring the project into a manageable affair, I combined multiple lists and from there created what seems to be a well rounded and agreed to group of books. I have read them all and some I absolutely loved, others, not so much. However, even with the less entertaining (for me anyway), I kept an open mind. There is a reason for these books to show up on list after list. Therefore, I looked for those reasons and in doing so I usually found what the hype was all about. I will review all of those books honestly as I understood them. My hope is that as you read, you will share your opinions with me as well. You may see something that I didn't that could help me further understand the gravity of these stories.
I will also share my list in pdf form so readers may check off as the books are completed. After the initial 100 books, I created a new 100 list for my second year. That book list will also be available in pdf form. If there are any books missing that you think MUST be read, please send me a message and I will add it to the third must read list..
You may also notice I review books that are not on any of the lists. There are a few reasons for this. One is I like to read new artists works and when those works are worth getting out there, I will review them and share those reviews on as many platforms I possibly can. Somewhere in all of those new authors, there are must read books that will become classics one day. I don't want to miss any of them.
Another reason is I need breaks from "heavy" reading. I once tried to go from Dante to Dosteovsky. I don't recommend it. One or the other will suffer. That is when I will add a less taxing book to unwind my mind and let the heavy topics sink in. I tend to understand books better when I take those breaks. I hope you enjoy the lists and share your thoughts on the books I have chosen.
